"Liberty Leading the People" by Eugene Delacroix (restored version)

This is a painting of the Romantic era by the French artist Eugène Delacroix, commemorating the July Revolution of 1830 that toppled King Charles X (r. 1824–1830). A bare-breasted "woman of the people" with a Phrygian cap personifying the concept and Goddess of Liberty, accompanied by a young boy brandishing a pistol in each hand, leads a group of various people forward over a barricade and the bodies of the fallen while holding aloft the flag of the French Revolution. This is the painting as seen after it's extensive restoration and cleaning in 2024 with brighter more natural colours.

Print-only: High quality Giclee printing with no-fade inks onto museum grade fine art paper ensuring your art will last a lifetime.

Framed Print: Ready-to-hang in an antique gold wooden frame with perspex glaze, milled with simple clean lines and a satin finish for extra protection. Square profile frame measures 20mm. The size listed refers to the size of the glaze and does not include the width of the frame.

Canvas: Stretched canvas over a wooden inner frame with 38mm/1.5" of depth.

Framed Canvas: Stretched canvas on a frame with antique gold float box frame around it with a gap between the canvas and the frame. A "Mirror wrap" on the edges of the image is repeated on the sides with the entire image appearing on the front.

Acrylic: A frame-free wall art option, our scratch resistant acrylic glass is crystal clear with diamond polished edges giving stunning, luminous colours with brilliant depth giving a modern, contemporary look. It is shatter and scratch resistant, see photo of the hidden hanging system.


Note that size measurements are not precise due to metric/imperial conversions. Acrylic product are not available in 18x24 so 16x24 is used instead. Original artwork may be cropped to best fit available product sizes.
